The NHS believes that ‘regular dancing is great for losing weight, maintaining strong bones, improving posture and muscle strength, increasing balance and beating stress’ and also that ‘one of the best things about dancing is that while you’re having fun moving to music and meeting new people, you’re getting all the health benefits of a good workout’.
Dr Michael Moseley, in his BBC Radio 4 programme, ‘Just One Thing’ basically said that dancing ‘has it all’ as regards health, keeping body and mind trim and active, and promoting a real sense of well being.
